I managed to flash my old M700 with coffeetimed Bios,
quite successfully. mac address got preserved, Ethernet and
both display ports working - so far so good.
But one thing really bothers me - the Windows license is gone!

Unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot of the Bios startpage,
and didn't note down the Windows key.
I managed to restore the Machine type and Serial no. using the
amidedos tool. But I see no option to restore the Windows key,
even if I still had the information.
I still have a backup of the original bios,
is there any way to extract the licensing information from there?
How to get it into my new coffetimed Bios?

Thank you to this amazing community!
From my understanding on Windows, You need the to preserve the machine model name, serial number and UUID.

Hi, I successfully built bios for my m700 Tiny based on coreboot (edk2 payload). It boots up okay, but when I shutdown it, its fan ramp up to max speed and stay there for no reason. I have to unplug power cord to turn it off. Do you experience this iss
Do you use windows or Linux? I don't ever face this issue in Linux. Did you remove the Coin Battery when flashing? If you are using Windows, you may try disable Quick startup in power management IDK

Hi everyone, could someone clarify the Coreboot options for a Lenovo M910q? I'm new to this and trying to figure out if it's possible to install Coreboot, or if my only option is to patch the BIOS with Coffee Time. I tried to build Coreboot myself but couldn't find a target for the M910q, only for the M700/M900 Tiny. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

There is no Coreboot for Lenovo M910q/M710q yet. There is Coreboot for M700 / M700 tiny, M900, M920q, M710s for the time being.

For coreboot M710q, I had read though the code but I can't figure out the magic numbers of GPIOs. If someone can help on Coreboot for M710q / M910q, I could be the first one for testing. I got M700 tiny, M710q and a M920q

Am I crazy to want to use an M700 tower motherboard with this mod and an i3-9100 as an OPNsense router for my upcoming 4 or 8 gig FTTH connection?

Hello, first of all, sorry for my bad English, I confess that I am using the translator to ask for help, I followed the topic and it seems to me that it is possible to make an M900 work with an i3 9100t with a Lenovo bios mod, does anyone have these files to make available?

Hello,

I read my M710Q BIOS with 341A, saved that, edited (settings shown at screen shoot) and wrote to BIOS chip.

Did the pin-mod on my 8400T(2 isolate and 2 short), but I have troubles with turning PC on.

I use small piece of aluminium foil, but tried pencil-mode also.

After some tries it turns on, pulls 2.5-3.5 watts from wall and stays like this, sometimes it shorts(?) and turn off after 1 second.

Any idea?

Good evening.

I advise you to try it on your native processor right away to make sure that the BIOS is working properly. And then try it on the new processor.

To compare the settings, you can open my dump in the CoffeeTime program (on page 12).

Hi,

I've successfully modded a M910Q with CoffeeTime, I've installed a i5-9500, it works very well, only draws 45W at heavy load. I've changed the PSU for a 90W one to be on the safe side.

Before CoffeeTime:

The dump opened in CoffeeTime:

Once all patchs applied:

Some images of the flash:

After I've flashed the BIOS modded in CoffeeTime, the microcode is now F2 and ME is disabled:

Then I've pinmodded the CPU using this reference:

After installing it and crossing my fingers, it booted after 30 seconds, hurrah!

I have now a i5-9500 working in the M910Q:

Since that, I've bought a M710Q (with Celeron G3900T) and modded it, I'm waiting for a new i5-9500 to install it.

I've made some bench from Celeron G3900T on the M710Q, and the i5-9500 on the M910Q:

CPU-Z shows a gain of 173% in single thread and 462% in multi thread!

I've successfully modded two M710Q the same way than the M910Q, and installed the same CPU (i5-9500).

They're almost exactly the same, the cooler are a bit different, they seems better built on the M710Q.

Here is a photo of the pinmod.

To make the bridge, I used copper tape, bought on Aliexpress. For insulation, I used Kapton tape (real one, not the fake sold on Aliexpress...).
I adjusted the copper tape a little after taking the photo, and it's fine now, both CPU are working perfectly.
