Hi,

Been a lurker for a while - a bit about me i'm a tinkering techie at home that likes to play with (server) hardware and technology while in the IT solutions space.

Project Home 'HCI' Nutanix/VMware 'log':
  • Using existing 3 x SC826
  • Upgrade backplanes with incoming SAS2-EL1 's - let you know if i run into any gotchas.
  • Reuse existing 3 LSI SAS2 cards (8211)
  • Reuse existing ssd/spinning rust
  • Still to buy 520da2 (prob thanks Natex)
  • Still to buy some rails - thanks Gecko
  • Still to buy some c2 2670's, ram
However since I'm a bit late to the e2670 'party' I have only been able to talk down an eBay vendor $350 usd each for 3x secondhand Supermicro motherboards (X9DR3-LN4F+) with sheild and heatsinks, which brings it to $1362.60 usd shipped (still confirming the possibility of more import tax due to new Aussie laws..)

Does this still sound like an okay deal?

Edit: Removed my tired rambling /sorry guys.
