Those of you that have large production Vcenters (few hundred hosts or more) what does the resource usage look like on them? How much memory have you given vcenter to work with?

I can check for you tomorrow. Still on 5.1, but we have ~200 clusters configured in our vCenter with somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 hosts.

Ok, so here at the primary DC, three vCenter servers.

#2 and #3 - 80 clusters, 240 hosts. vCenter servers configured with 2 cores and 32GB of RAM.
#1 - 10 clusters, 34 hosts. vCenter servers configured with 2 cores and 16GB of RAM.

Wow, not much CPU for those vcenters, That said I dont have much experience with 5.1. Most of ours are now running 6.0 on the VCSA's

Most of ours have 10-12 cores and 32GB of ram.....VMware has suggested that 32Gb is not enough and we should be upgrading them all to 64GB each.

running 4vCPU and 16GB ram with our 6.0 Update 2 VCSA install, also running it off SSD storage. <10 hosts but have 3rd-party backup software, monitoring, and in-guest unmapping software all using the API's beyond the admins.
