It looks like the latest versions of Java 9 and 10 are a no-go for the venerable Lantronix Spiders. Even the latest Java 8 patches no longer will allow the remote KVM functionality.

Is this the end of the line for them?

I have basically given up. It looks like the choice is going to be old OS with an old version of Java or to move on.

My Lantronix SLS Kira Chip Rev 2.n took firmware 04.00.08 (V4.0_20018-12-17) which supports HTML5 console.
It's not 100% perfect, but it works.
You can also use SpiderView
just in case and I take no responsibility for bricked Spiders :)

We still have the ones we updated in 2020 and even if we rarely use them (only when ipmi/bmc controller of a given motherboard is showing strange behaviour), they still work fine. Not checked for updates since then I must say.

Pleasantly surprised to have updated a SLS200, just picked up of ebay, to a firmware dated 2025 to HTML5, just needed to switch KVM mode in settings to get HTML5.
