Epyc is out since several weeks. Patrick apparently has the chance to play with the beast....
But all over the web no third-party reviews popped up : no sign on anandtech, serverwatch and only previews this site. Server reviews needs a lot of time and ressources to reflect real world behaviour. But it's quite three weeks from epyc launch now. So what ?
- server providers are polishing bios setup to optimize perfomance and/or stability ?
- pressure from the powerful and deep pocket competitor ?
- attempt from AMD to maintain Intel in the dark on real world Epyc performance before skylale-SP arrival ?

Yes, not many reviewers have it, the fact that Patrick got one shows how big STH has grown. New platforms take weeks to understand and get good benchmarks of. Just because of the way Epyc is architected means it is going to have some interesting characteristics. Which often involve going down a rabbit hole chasing an odd result.

Ryzen certainly was not quite ready when it was shoved out the door and reviews suffered. I trust Patrick to show good judgment on getting a thorough and fair review out the door in a timely fashion.

Launch and available are not the same thing.

Launched in June. Most vendors are telling me late July but more realistically August before systems are available.

Production BIOS are just being completed. The pre-production BIOS had some "features" that were rough to work with.

Also, there are only a few sites that have real test facilities. STH, AT (Johan), SR. Others are testing in homes. As these servers up their power consumption they are less desirable to run outside of a data center or dedicated lab facility.
