Bought one of these to hopefully provide a single 10G T connector on my Juniper EX4300-P, all the rest of my infra is optical and didnt want to go to effort of adding in a separate 10g-base-t switch to support just one device. Luck isnt my thing so it doesnt work, curious if anyone else has had any luck, or if theres a specific switch firmware that is needed to support?
Ill talk to 3rd party support tomorrow but maybe STH can come to the rescue....?

I ordered up a pair of the 10G copper SFP+ modules from fs.com and your post above convinced me to try it and see if it will work (been too busy of late). It does seem to work just fine in my ex3400, and gets a 10G link to one of my Xeon-D boards, and does fine with a 1G link as well to switches and NICs if that was needed.

I did this one FS SFP-10G-T 10GbEBASE-T SFP+ Copper RJ45 Module | FS.COM and had them code it for Juniper to be sure.

So it is possible - not sure if your has similar insides to the fiberstore one however.

Code:

I would contact your supplier and ask what's up.

I ordered up a pair of the 10G copper SFP+ modules from fs.com and your post above convinced me to try it and see if it will work (been too busy of late). It does seem to work just fine in my ex3400, and gets a 10G link to one of my Xeon-D boards, and does fine with a 1G link as well to switches and NICs if that was neededI would contact your supplier and ask what's up.
Do you have any experience with the microtik S+RJ10? It's only 1/3rd the price of the fiberstore module, I'm curious to give it a try in my brocade and juniper gear - will only be for short runs, maybe 20 feet or less. I've seen reports of it working in cheap netgears and even mellanox cards so I'm thinking it should work, but who knows with this stuff

No not yet - a few folks on the forums purchased the Microtik ones and seemed to have mixed success, so I got the spendy ones from FS as I needed a pair to work for one application and could return them if there was any issues, plus I was ordering several dozen SFP+s anyway for another project. If I get my hands on a set I will try them out. I will try the FS one in my Brocade ICX66xx's eventually and other Juniper, Quanta and HP gear.

Many folks purchase 10G copper SFP+ modules from Microtik and FS.COM. Their third-party modules are with high compatibility and you can get with decent price.

I ordered a pair of the Mikrotik ones up also and will try them and the FS ones in a mix of cards and switches. Need to break down and buy a SFP re-coder too.

slightly off topic: the mikrotik module does not do jumbo frames, so is out of order for me. So I ordered fs.com modules. But they do not work in a Mikrotik switch (they work in cisco). Anybody has succeeded in getting the fs.com copper modules working in a Mikrotik switch?

reply to myself:
Mikrotik S+RJ10 modules do not work unless autonegotiate is set (and do not support jumbo frames).
FS.com SFP-10G-T modules do not work unless a fixed speed is set (and do support jumbo frames).
