Hi guys, new to forum. We're in the process of building out our cabinet and was concerned with enabling Jumbo Frames on our switches that serves multiple devices and roles. I'd enjoy some input and some validation. We have (2) true stacked switches via HDMI cables. We're creating (5) VLANS (WAN, INTERNAL, OOB,ISCSI networks) Our Hypervisor is Xen connected to FreeNas via iSCSI but will be soon insert an additional box (SuperMicro 12 bay Drive/HotPlug/Dual PS) running OmniOS + Napp-IT with 6 SAS 300GB drives + 4 Intel S3500 SSD on a SuperMicro (Dual Xeon 1.8Ghz) 8GB RAM. HBA = LSI 9211-8.

Goal:
FAST, MPIO Redundant iSCSI SAN

My biggest question is how to configure the iSCSI for MPIO on the switch & OmniOS. Just recently learned it's possible to use Jumbo frames with coexisting devices using default 1500 MTU as long as the devices are separated by VLANs.

Check out my post here for a general idea how to configure your devices.

Create your Volume for Comstar
Create a Target for each dedicated iSCSI VLAN
create a Target Group for each dedicated iSCSI VLAN and add your Targets
Create a View for your Target Groups
Configure MPIO and Round Robin for your Initiators.
