Hi everyone,

I'm trying to change the smb.conf file on my NAS (Lenovo IX4-300d), but all changes to the smb.conf get overwritten upon reboot.. not sure how or when.. but so far I didnt see any cron jobs or sample files where it copies it from.

anyone have a luck with this system ?

Sometimes, or often ... In vendor-specific NAS config files are not allowed to be edited. You may set a smb.conf and put it into a persistent folder in the NAS copy your specific smb.conf in via cron job @reboot and restart samba.

Or do a chattr +i ...

Or build your own NAS ...

I would check to see if there are multiple copies of the smb.conf and maybe you're changing the wrong one. Also, I would see what the time is of the overwrite and that might provide a clue as to what is doing that.
