Welp, my original array of 36x2TB is rapidly approaching the 4 year old mark, and they've been in service 24x7 so I'm going to err on the side of caution and assume they will start dropping like flies shortly.

Current setup:

Primary Server
SC847, Dual E5-2620, 64GB ram,

LSI 9265-8i for 12x2TB drives, and 2x 15k 146GB sas drives for OS Boot.
LSI 2308 based 8i for 24x2TB
LSI 2008 based 8i for 4x Intel 540 SSDs for ZIL/L2ARC
LSI 2008 based 8e for SE3016 DAS chassis

Total array: 4x8 drive raidz3 (yes I know its wrong.) ~38TB usable

Secondary:

SC846, Intel E5506, 24GB ram

Older LSI Card doing HW Raid1 for OS drive (2x500)
LSI SAS2004 based doing 16x3TB in raidz2 ~34 TB usable

These two are connected via a D-Link DGS 3420-TC (24 port 1gig, 4x 10g SFP+) using intel 10G cards.

Today I picked up another 16 3TB drives. Going to install them into the second chassis, move everything over, recreate first array, move it all back. Should be fun to hurry up and wait.

The 2TB drives are hitachi HUA72202's, 3TBs are el-cheapo Seagates.
