Hello,

Just picked up a Supermicro CSE-836BE16-R920B chassis, going to be using it with an X10SRH-CF and an E5-2690v3 (135W).

Is the Noctua D9DX i4 3u the best option for this setup? Does anyone add the 2nd fan?

Thanks

I use two of those in my 836 chassis. They fit perfectly. Can't remember if I added the second fan or not. Been running fine for 3 1/2 years now with an Intel SC2600CP2J and two E5-2670.

No issues. I have 128GB of RAM, and am almost certain that it's 8GB sticks only, so that means all slots are occupied.

Sweetness, thank you for the information.

I will be using either 16's or 32's.

I think you must have 16's if you have 128GB, 16x8=128

I have used them for years with a single fan. Before I switched to lrdimms, which were shorter, I did have to notch the lower fan corners.

Just ordered one from Amazon ;-)

Yeah, notching the fan would be OK.
