Is Akismet efficiency going (way) down?

First off, Akismet is generally very good and I am happy to pay the subscription fee. With that said, it seems like the trendline is making it so Akismet is less effective.

Has anyone noticed that the efficiency of Akismet on their WordPress installations is going way down?

In October 2016 we already have the same number of "Missed spam" as in all of the April-June quarter combined.

Here is a bit of data on missed spam:

• January-March: 0.044%
• April-June: 0.010%
• July-September: 0.113%
• October 1-12: 0.278%

And on a graph:


Thus far, October is already well above the trendlines for the first three-quarters of this year.

Are others seeing a similar trend in their WordPress sites?

I mean, it's still 0.3% so thats still pretty good. I haven't noticed any change on any of my sites.

Yea but at 100,000 spam messages/ month that is still quite a few to sift through. Lucky that the figures have been lower the past few months.
