I don't think E5v1/v2 support will be dropped too soon. They have a much better power consumption than the previous gen and I believe there're still lots of companies using it due to the better CTO. They can't be dropped easily.

Nice! I'm waiting for Veeam to release an update to support 6.7 and then I'll try it myself

What I found is that you can now add a raw physical disk to a VM from the Web-GUI. You only need an SAS HBA (Onboard Sata seems not yet supported). If you add an Sata disk, only its WWN is displayed when adding. SAS disks additionally show a product and size info. There is no need to pass-through the HBA. Smart detection is ok and you can move such a disk without problems to a barebone OmniOS setup and import a ZFS pool there.
Gea, can you tell abit more on the hardware you tested this on. I only get "Failed - A general system error occurred: Error creating disk Function not implemented" when testing this on a LSI controller.

I used this site and the commands to update my installations to esxi 6.7:

VMware ESXi 6.7.0 Patch History

Code:
# Cut and paste these commands into an ESXi shell to update your host with this Imageprofile
# See the Help page for more instructions
#
esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e true -r httpClient
esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-6.7.0-8169922-standard -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml
esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e false -r httpClient
#
# Reboot to complete the upgrade

I was just about to post almost the same screenshot now after upgrading!

I just ran the command below and was up and running in no time. Single L5630 on a X8DTL-F

esxcli software profile update -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml -p ESXi-6.7.0-8169922-standard
Just SSH to the host and run this?

And any difference between this one and the one above?

I just have the Free esxi version so can't do some of the stuff posted in the wild like use a vcenter for updates.

I have made my tests with ESXi 6.7 on a SuperMicro X11-nCTF with an onboard LSI 3008
I'm very very new to VMWare I played around with 6.7 on the same MB. About 3 months ago I spent a day playing with it and I may have missed something. But hit a wall with sata AHCI passthrough with 6.7. The Lewisburg SATA AHCI Controller on the x11sph-nctpf is listed as compatable (I've successfully passed this controller through on raw linux and ProxMox). My LSI 3008 passes fine. and SR-IOV works on the X722 nics

Ive tried loading the older vmw-ahci vib that worked in 6.5 and creating enteries in passthru.map and a host of other black magic (even a reinstall). Although this was been a very educational experience, it isn't getting me closer to a system working the way I would like it to.

I'm just wondering if you have seen a solution in your travels

I signed up for the free trial which has now expired and the site wouldn't allow me to download 6.5, which by all accounts, seemed to have less issues with pass through
