There are nasty bugs like JCC erratum which were fixed later on, so staying at the old 0500001C is a difficult decision, unless you have no other choice.
its just required here in the BIOS, after POST the OS can load newer.
but even with the MCU you are not safe.

Hello :)
I'm trying to get an 8273CL running on my X11SPM-TF. I did try BIOS version 3.5 (which was already installed) and 4.3, both don't recognize the CPU. Do I also need a modded BIOS (and how can I get one)?

Edit: I did install BIOS version 3.0b (as hinted above) and with that version it boots up fine. But some more recent version would be nice :).

I have pretty much learned all these through the "hard way" a.k.a failures. Not pleasant experience, but for the sake of anyone who is still interested in this processor, I hope this thread can give out some info to avoid going through the same pain I had gone through.

Some background: I was trying to use this CPU in a 4-way configuration in a Supermicro 8049U-E1CR4T, without success. Here are some highlights:
Did you ever find a 4-way solution that worked? Got a cheap 2049U-TR4 from an ebay auction ($500) and would love to try it with some optane sticks since they become cheap.

Afaik all 'C' OEM SKU are wayness cutted to 2S
and the fact "all Platinum are 8S" is history since some time.
on some gens the 'U' or 'N' can give you a hint it is single socket only.

I am currently with 4x 6230 - waiting for the final price drop of 8276L :) not ideal, but the system is happy and I am happy, for now

Hi, I have some gigabyte R181-340, motherboards are MR91-FS0-ZB I'm trying to swap cpu with 8273CL and it gets stuck at update smbios table.
I can confirm they do support 8272CL.
Is there any way I can work this out ?

Thanks, I just tried the bios but unfortunately now it stays stuck at Chipset Initialize code 4F. With this bios I cant boot with my gold 6130 anymore.
yes i see. MCU 1C is much bigger and doesn't fit, i try again. sorry.

edit: this BIOS has BIOS Guard enabled, maybe modifiying doesn't work at all.

ok, no problem thanks a lot for helping. Do you know if they would work in a T7920 with vrm mod ?
