I decided to go back and read the first ~50 pages of the thread that I hadn't read before and there is no answer. Near the start of the thread there was speculation that Facebook, Google, etc dumped a bunch of servers at the same time causing a big oversupply of them. There was also speculation later in the thread that a big pile of 1000's of CPUs came out of a super computer that was being reworked.
I read every post & I cannot add to your summary.

I expect asking the sellers the question "hey, who is your supplier of e5-2670s" will probably work. <- That is not directed at a forum member.

I am patiently awaiting the e5 V2 glut.

Coming together nicely :)
Indeed.

I predict you will see similar CPU temperatures by rotating the CPU HSF 90 degrees clockwise (read less throttling of the downstream CPU). I am guessing the delta (in the pictured configuration) is about 10C when the CPUs are at 100% utilization.

So far with all cores @ 100% the temp difference between the two CPUs is 1c or less than 1c

I would not move the CPU coolers or stress about it... you won't see 10*C difference

I would not recommend buying the board used unless the seller has a very good reputation. Too many duds out there and not worth the time.

The chips are really awesome. My passmark scores are higher than I had anticipated, 1755 single thread and just about 20 500 for the system. Well worth the $$$ even though I paid retail for the board.
So I guess the only thing I need to decide on is if I should buy one or 2 cpus. :D

Apologies for the strange question, but how long does the Passmark benchmark take to run on your system?

In for cpu/mboard/ram - will report results upon receipt.

fyi - I think the vendor figured out demand on dual 2011 mb; they just started 5-day ebay auction to adjust pricing.
Received Intel S2600cp motherboard, 128gb rdimm and 2x 2670v1 cpu from natex.us. Product was thoroughly packed, shipped promptly and worked out of the box. CPUs, ram and passive heatsinks were installed, just had to update bmc/bios/me/fdu. Good value at $475 complete + $10 for i/o shield via ebay.

The seller has listed mboard/ram/cpu on ebay with b/o.

Intel S2600CP Dual Socket LGA 2011 Server MBoard 2x E5-2670 128GB (16x 8GB DDR3)

A few caveats, as listed in previous posts:

2 nics only and ipmi is shared with either/both nics
ipmi as shipped does not have remote console or media ($45 add-on RMM4Lite)
fan controls are not as flexible as SM offerings (3 basic profiles set with offline utility, customized profiles require some detail work)
6x sata ports only
cpu power plugs may require extension, depending on chassis

Might not be for everyone, but it's good to have choices.

I guess that's for the mathematically challenged. $650 + $25 shipping on eBay or $475 with free shipping directly from their online store. Somehow I don't think they'll be accepting offers of $475 or less, especially after you consider the eBay & PayPal fees.
Maybe wait for Monday. Have been working with them a bit on this.

Has anyone ever bought there xeons from this guy Intel Xeon E5-2670 2.60 Ghz 20 Mb 8-Core CPU Processor SR0KX 115W ? On ebay he is the cheapest seller for me seeing as he is in china and the ones from USA are 40 dollars more expensive to ship to The Netherlands. Im somewhat afraid of buying from that guy seeing as he only has had 6 people give feedback and he can easily pack up and leave with the money.

Not enough feedback for me, especially CHINA. I've had bad deals from China with 1000 GOOD feedback then one month BAM 40+ negative!!

ravenxeon1.jpg ravenxeon2.jpg Finally got my workstation 100% working,
Intel s2600cp
Dual e5-2670 (from esisoinc)
32GB ECC 1333 (from esisoinc)
Hyper 212 Evos
GTX 980
Used the internal USB to connect a cheap usb audio adapter and is working just fine.

The only thing that makes me worry is cpu temps, both cpu's (using coretemp) show all cores round 30-34 °C, but core 0 of cpu 0 is idleing 8-10 °C higher..
