Anyone try these yet? Intel Xeon E5 2665 ES CPU Processor 8 Core 2 3GHz 20MB 8GT QA8Z Sandy Bridge EP | eBay

$250 +10 ship for these chips are good. QA8Z stepping and only 2.3ghz

The Xeon E5-2665 is a 2.4ghz chip so that doesn't match. This one is $465 at 2.4ghz and QB7U. 7U seems earlier than 8Z to me. Intel Xeon QB7U 2 4GHz 20MB 8 Core Processor ES Version E5 2665 | eBay

The other QA8Z is much more ($400+ ea) and says will not work with asus mb with cap bios: Intel Xeon E5 2665 ES 8 Core 2 3GHz LGA 2011 20MB Sandy EP 2 Way 2690 2660VALUE | eBay

If these worked super deal for 8c 16t and 20mb chips

Well this is interesting:

We have tested these CPUs on Asus Z9PE-D16/2L motherboard and have had no issues. Many people also use Asus Z9PE-D8 WS and Supermicro X9DAi motherboards with these CPUs.

Not that I need 16c/32t for a media server, but would be a nice upgrade from a single 2620 on my Z9PE-D16.

Price wise great. Would be worried about compatibility and which stepping these are.

Also, didn't the newer ASUS BIOS add support for WS2012/ Windows 8? I remember having to do that transition to get older boards working with those.

Yes the Asus boards had a BIOS release in December that added 2012/8 compatibility. Send me a couple chips I'll test them out haha.

If I had a use for them I'd probably do it, but this box just sits idle 99% of the time.

I originally offered 4 for 175 each he countered with 4 for 200 each to which I countered with 4 @ 180 each. I find that these ebayers are well aware of their margins and the cost of shipping and won't dip such that it hurts them obviously.

Got 2 of the Xeon E5-2665. I'll see if they will work in an Asus Z9PE-D8. The dual socket board supplies the four Titan's with PCI 3.0 x16 connectors each - the P9X79WS board runs out of PCIe lanes (4 times x8 lanes).

Should be a simple swap:
