have no idea about win server 2012. but I do know that my s2600cp2j build with 2x e5-2670 and 128gb ram from natex is working great with win10 ent. hasn't crashed once. enter and exit sleep fine now that I have turn off allow wake up by keyboard and mouse. too bad it still use 17w during sleep, which is like 3x what it s supposed to but other than that everything working great with win10.

I might try to install win server 2016 but for now I don't see any real reason to run that over win10. is there?

yes my is also from natex... i am try all windows based on "win 10" and problem is
ACPI-BIOS-ERROR in window 10... bsod -when isntalation starting.
So I'm not able to install windows on this board.
because ACPI is a very wide range of issues.
BIOS is from 2011 and I can not upgrade on Mint 18 Linux.. i dont now.

Natex dealer does not help so do not buy from it.

I check my USB key for holding Intel firmware files.
It is a 2gb cheap old usb key from over 10 years ago, FAT32 format.
I unzip and copy the file to the FAT32 formatted USB key.

you need to go to fs0 by typing "fs0: " at the prompt to change over to the usb. then you can do cd "directory name" or if all files in root then you can do startup.nsh

look at the readme file for the bios update carefully to make sure that you are at least on a certain version before you can upgrade. ie I don't think you can go straight from earliest to the latest.

also mine had no problem with win 10 install even though mine came with one of the earliest if not the earliest bios.

I assume when you boot up it went ok? did you go into the bios menu and did some set up first?

Glad I could help somehow.

yz78, did you get a sound card and usb 3 card also? any reason why you didn't pay a little more to get the SR0KX stepping wit the VT-d?

hope you read up on several posts of people putting the s2600cp2 together. I made a whole post on it too. Make you read them!
Mine is working perfectly win 10. only thing is that sleep uses 17w, three times what it should be ;(....

S2600 doesn't have onboard sound or usb 3.
Hey Wildpig1234, i saw in a different post that you also have a Lenovo D30 Motherboard, I had a quick question about that board.
There are 2 4pin Cpu power connectors and also there is a 2 pin connector. Do all 3 of these connectors have to be plugged in for the board to work?

Also does this board work well with windows 10? Server 2012 R2? Server 2016? whichever you have experience with.

Also What CPU Cooler are you using with this Board?

Maybe I should make a new thread on the Lenovo too :).

I actually got the Lenovo d30 as a barebone oem WS that comes with the case, psu and MB and 2 DVD drives for $330 which I thought was a good deal.

Anyway, yes all the power connectors are connected. and I imagine you probably won't be able to turn it on without all power connectors.

Did you get this board by itself? most generic psu has one (20+4) pin atx power and 2 (4+4) pin cpu power connectors only. but you can get a splitter cable to split one of the 4 pin power connector. shouldn't be much of a problem as most psu nowadays has single 12v rail anyway.

yep, the Lenovo is working fine with win 10. I like the built in usb 3 and sound that comes standard onboard. sleep works great at 3w. haven't tried any server software. do the win server have much to offer over standard win 10 ent?

My Lenovo came with 1 stock cpu cooler included. I bought another Raijintek Aidos CPU cooler ($22) for the 2nd cpu. the thing is that the stock cpu cooler is smaller and its not as good as the aidos cooler but there is a plastic video card cage that would block the use of the bigger aidos cooler for one of the cpu slot. I think I can easily cut off part of that cage without doing much harm so I might do that in the future b/c the oem cooler is too small and its not as good so that cpu is running hotter than the one cooled by the aidos.
