Do you have a hi-rez picture without the heat sink on? With some more eyes looking, maybe we can see something else.
As requested, the pictures are high res, if you save them then you can zoom in on any point.

On the Heatsink there is a pad thats sits on the SAS2308 and also another smaller pad on the max8686

Hi there!

Have here a DUAL Inte Xeon System:

S2600COEIOC Motherboard (with RMS25KB080 Module)
64 GB RAM
2x Xeon E5-2630
RMS25KB080 Module with 3x Samsung SSD 840 Pro as RAID0
Intel P4216XXMHEN Case with 16 Hotswap Bays (2.5")
Server 2012R2

Here my first speed test:

In the Virtual Disk Properties I can change only "Disk Cache Policy" which is by default "enabled"

If someone need some more test's I can make some!
Have also here LSI 9265/85 Controllers and 9266-8i Controller

regards

EDIT:

This Controller Module cannot Import Virtual Drive created on a 9265 Controller!

Did anyone ever manage to flash the RMS25KB080, or use any other tricks to get it working in a non-Intel board?

I've got the RMS25KB080, as well as the S2600COE motherboard it came packaged with, but if at all possible, I'd like to use the RMS25KB080 in a Supermicro motherboard, as that's my new server setup.

Would it be possible to flash the RMS25KB080 with an IT firmware, and wipe out the Intel board-check in the process?

MN couldn't get it to work, don't think anyone else tried. Knowing intel its probably locked down pretty good, they have lots of engineers to throw at non-existent beancounter/lawyer problems like needlessly/anticompetively locking down otherwise standard hardware to specific vendors.

That said I'll dump mine cheap on anyone who actually owns an intel e5 motherboard. Fitty' bucks for an LSI 2308 w/8i can't be a bad deal.

I personally will never buy intel motherboards ever again, they do some really dumb giant monopoly company that doesn't have to care kind of shit with their designs.
