Other than Endurance hos is this not a much much better buy than the p4800x ?

I mean the price is significantly less, from what I can quickly tell only difference is Endurance of p4800x is 20pbw.

Yes.

Stay tuned.

On the pricing expect this to come down.

@Dan K. that should be fine if it works with the 750.

The Optane 900p card is 15W which would be too hard to cool in M.2.

For context, enterprise NVMe goes up to ~25W each.

Does anyone know what the difference is between
  • SSDPE21D280GASX and
  • SSDPE21D280GASM
?

Is it that the -ASM contains a M.2 to U.2 adapter?

I'd like to see more Enterprise level testing all the sites are comparing to consumer drives, and this images is kind of scary...

https://img.purch.com/r/600x450/aHR...QL1kvNzIyODA2L29yaWdpbmFsL2ltYWdlMDA5LnBuZw==

source: Intel Optane SSD 900P Performance Testing

It shows the 900P writing at 55K IOPs @ QD 1 while an intel 750 is doing 75,000.

Something doesn't seem right with that as the Intel also beats it out at other QDs.

At mixed random workload the 900P is at 100,000+ IOPs while all others are <50,000 but again this is consumer comparison so as to be expected.

Their steady-state sequential testing shows how awesome it maintains performance

Appears to do around 115,000 IOPs in Steady State 4K Random-Writing yet the intel 750 starts out much higher... not too sure again why that is. My only thought is it's the RAM/CACHE on the 750... maybe none on the 900P? (I haven't looked into it further)

I look forward to seeing STH review/comparison :)
