I guess we may not see general use systems with these CPU’s this time ? Seems very specialised in design, looks like a very specific feature set to be implemented with power efficiency and low cost being very important is the design choices (eg limited pci choice and small memory capability)

So if this is Tremont based, it is a C4000 spin but only for a higher-margin market since Intel is production constrained? So we have to wait still for C4000 :( but it is closer.

Its been over a year now since this announcement, any word on consumer availability of these CPUs and supporting motherboards?

It's a specialized product line. There aren't going to be any consumer motherboards with them.

Which processor to use now to replace xeon d-1500 or atom c3000 for low power x86 nas/home server ?
Atom c4000 will exist one day ?

Not sure how the new icelake Xeon-D will look but won’t have long to find out, we know supermicro will release board for the CPU (references to x12sdv-8c-sp6f are already listed on their site)

Of course the tremont cores in a ‘c4000’ would have uses as well but I don’t see anything referenced yet, maybe there won’t be general release.

My guess is that we will get Ice Lake D around the Mobile World Congress timeframe. Just a guess but that would make sense given its target market.

Heh. Let’s hope Ryzen embedded V3000 / Genoa embedded comes out soon (also rumored around MWC)

I casually had asked somewhat recently and was told Q1 so that fits.

Given for a while manufactures have had QS chips and have board designs completed I think (hope) won’t be far from announce to availability.

While the TDP will be similar to past the performance will be up and there will be an LCC version that seems to be 8-core (or up to 8, maybe they won’t make smaller ones) and then a HCC version stretching to 20-core.

I would presume 2999 ddr4 upto 1tb support and maybe we see 6 or 8 dimm boards this time.
Now that is likely for carrier board (COM-HPC) but type D is 160x160mm or a few mm smaller that mITX.

Let’s wait and see

Some "EPYC 3000" exist (Supermicro M11SDV but limited to 1 Gb network or one Asrock EPYC3251D4I-2T at ~1000€ o_O )

Like you say, maybe Ice Lake D or Ryzen embedded V3000 next year. Waiting.

Well I don’t doubt we will see a lot of the Intel chips as control pane in switches and things likes that but retail available let’s see, could be limited

Eh, no. Ryzen Embedded V2000s are very much not vaporware. You can buy actual boards and boxes from the likes of iBase, DFI, ASRock and other OEMs. Ryzen embeddeds are really the higher hermal margin versions of their normal Ryzen mobile chips but with longer availabilities and different AGESA libs. You can trace the V series back to their direct equivalents, i.e. V1756B -> Ryzen 5 2600H, V2748 -> Ryzen 7 4800H, and so on. Their availability is not nearly as broad as the V1000s since they are based on the mobile Zen 2 lines, and Mobile Zen 2 supplies are tight in general (I had an Elitebook 835G7 on back-order for 5 months because the Ryzen 5 4xxxU APU is in short supply).

Asrock, it’s a complete computer. iBase, i don’t know this.
There is also the Advantech AIMB-229, and others.

What part of “supplies are tight in general” are you not picking up? AMD embedded chips tend to take nearly 2 years between announcement and general availability, and that’s during normal times. Right now even the Ryzen 2 mobile chips are taking a while to be made into products.
