on a Intel S2600BPB motherboard i could access the PXE1610C's in standby state, very easy because only the BMC is accessing the VRM rarely.
Hi RolloZ170.
Thanks you for very useful information! I successfully reprogram VRM on Supermicro x11ddw-nt for Xeon 8171 using your instructions.

Please answer two questions:
Where is 3 pin i2c connector on S2600BPB motherboard located? I cant found it on my S2600WF.

got a MCP2221a pcb, microchip provides a CLI & Terminal software.

relplace the 60 with the 7 bit slave addr. of your system.(MCP2221 Terminal can investiage the avail.Devices, read the Doc)
Is it instruction for reprogram icc_max on PXE1610C, right?

its for Dell 7820/7920.
S26000BPB uses other address. you can find it with Terminal search devices function.
supply only +5VSB without CPUs and you can access the VRMs of this board.
first PXE1610C 7/8 30h/60h
second PXE1610C 7/8 38h/70h
S2600BPB VRM addr sth.jpg
i made a c# code for automatic programming. download here

SMBus VR.jpg
edit: the 3pin header is labeled "SMB VR"
just solder two cables on SCL/SDA and take any Ground Pin from USB i.e. or LAN shield metal.
if you want to install a 3Pin header don't waste your time with the ground pin, the heat is sinked by the huge copper plane, take a 0,8mm drill and remove the solder that way.

made this on a Dell 7820
View attachment 23485
Dell uses PXE1610C (Primarion, overtaken from Infineon)
PXE1610C uses a proprietäry method to store the register to NVM(OTP2), so needed a primarion USB dongle and PowerCode software(with activation key) to change the ICC_MAX.
View attachment 23486the R740 motherboard mostly missing the 6th phase(or more) the 7820 has 6+1 phase installed.
Hello, RolloZ170, I have a T7920, I want to use 8251CPU, can you give me some help

Hello, I just got a couple of Platinum 8175M with Board Intel S2600WFT and it wont boot, seems like a TDP compatibility issue sionce these processors are also 240W and in the compatibility list of the motherboard they are up to 205W. Is there someting I could do like updating BIOS? Or in any case, could someone point me to a tested motherboard that will 100% work with these processors?

Thanks in advance.

I'm actually selling my 8124M rig (I'll post it some time tonight, or you can PM me if you're in Canada). It has an AsRock Rack EPC621D8A board which obviously supports 240W TDP CPUs. The only other board that isn't AWS OEM that's known to work is Gigabyte's C621 board. Just remember you should absolutely have active cooling over the VRMs if you're going to push the CPU for longer than a few min at 100% or you'll have stability problems.

Well I´m actually in Spain. I´m looking for dual socket motherboards, I just got four of these and I´m having a hard time as you may know to make them work, cant find a single motherboard.

Oh for dual CPU mobos, the Gigabyte will definitely work. Wendell @L1Techs is still running his Gigabyte 2U servers with dual 8124M. He has the model number somewhere in his post on the L1Techs forums or in his video on the 8124M.

cascade lake non production ES works.
the BIOS must fully support Skylake and Cascade Lake processors, there is no space to add. skylake non-PRD ES support.
all modd avail. to make BIOS compatible with skylake non -PRD ES ist to downgrade the processor initialsation codes to an pre cascade lake one.
if you take a skylake only BIOS, i.e. at the supermicro X11SPM, skylake B0 ES are supported(most, not on all supermicro's)
Sorry for necrobump, gathering information.
So, what I gather is that the EVGA SR-3 works with ES Cascade Lake CPUs (Stepping 5) without modification, and this motherboard cannot be modified to work with ES Skylake CPUs (Stepping 2) because there is not a Skylake-only bios available to be modded?

normaly not. all X11DPU we tested ran 8175M(240W) & 8222CL(TDC=255A) out of the box. there is no BIOS TDP block.

So I shouldn't run your scripts that I downloaded from dropbox for VRM mod, right?

MCP2221a_iccmax_FF.exe -PXE1610C 50 REM X11DPU first
MCP2221a_iccmax_FF.exe -PXE1610C 52 REM X11DPU second
