Hi,
I need to create an ESX cluster made from the following hardware
* four nodes DELL C6220
* HP DL 380 G6
* HP SE316M1 (NAS)

I wish to connect them via infiniband and found the following components:

Mellanox MIS5035Q-1BRC 36 port Infiniband managed switch QDR 2.88Tb/s IS5035
Sun Oracle X4242A PCIe Infiniband 40Gbps ConnectX-2 QDR MHQH29B-XSR (For HP Rack)
DELL JR3P1 MELLANOX MCQH29-XDR CONNEXTX-2 VPI DUAL PORT 40GB INFINIBAND HBA (For Dell C6220)

I have 3 questions:

Do you think it is a balanced setup, with all parts having the same specifications ?
Which cable do I need to connect the Network adapters to the Switch ?
Is this networking hardware supported from VMWare ESXi 6.0U2 ?

Do the C6220 nodes have mezzanine card cutouts? That will determine if you can use the mezzanine cards.

Cables, I'd just get the FDR cables because price is not much more.

Tomorrow morning I'll take some pictures and post them here to understand if cutouts are present.

Also, are FDR cables electrically compatible with everything ? Could you suggest a model ?

For the record, even without the cutouts the mezzanine cards may work. None of my 4 nodes have the cutouts, but with a little work with the dremel, all 4 work fine with the mezzanine cards. YMMV.
