Infiniband cable compatibility issues?

So I am trying to troubleshoot connectivity issues between my IB Cards (connect-x3, 354a) and my switch.

I got a bunch of Gore QSN3800-3 copper cables which are the same as Intel cbl1-0600328 which seem to be the same as IBM 59Y1900/ 59Y1902.

1. With cards connected to switch all ports are down, polling, cannot start opensm (sm port not open)
2. Card linking to itself or another card in the same box is working fine (init -> opensm starts, active), cards are in IB mode

Does anyone know of any problems with these cables and Mellanox gear?

Not sure why it didnt work originally but it seems they are working now.
Not sure yet at which speed/capabilities but I have basic connectivity.

Edit: looks like they run 40GB IB and 10GB Ethernet
