This would be great for some home labs to add ssds, but sadly it's just for 7mm devices

You'd just need to reduce the number of drives and buy more single 5.25" bay units.
Examples:
4 x 2.5 for up to 15mm = MB994SP-4SB-1 <- for those shucked 4TB Seagates ??
6 x 2.5 for up to 9.5mm = MB996SP-6SB
