I think I would buy one with the BBU. Fairly easy to sell that off and get a M5014 for less. That is a lower hassle option though.

If your motherboard works with RAID controllers (some consumer boards have issues with non-GPU/ TV tuners), then it is a drop in. The flash side is because other non-IBM versions boot faster and etc.

got two for $69/ea the price is going down to $66.00 USD now!

no bracket/battery but they work fine. kinda slow shipping. might as well spread the news.

found something to do with my BR10i $15 cards that had brackets (all megaraid cards m5014 back seem to use the same brackets even some really old pci-x junk nobody wants).

ALWAYS update the firmware to newest. The Dell Perc h700 would crash bus-error on my R610 until about a year after they released the card new drivers were made.

and keep it cool, not designed for non-server forced air. will overheat and crash and burn your finger (re-silver goop the main chip).

Be very very careful cross-flashing as these have 256 meg of ram and it will freak out if you mark it 512meg in certain circumstances.

I have used these in HP DL360/380/R610/R410 solid with samsung 830's. I'm not sure that the battery is necessary since you are using direct i/o which doesn't even throw things in the cache? Definitely goes slower.

btw a 9265 without fastpath is as fast as a M5014 with fastpath.. something to chew on. then again two M5014's can be faster than 1 M5016 (9265) and the IBM firmware seems to support clustering (two raid controllers connected to one cage dual ported) perhaps even in 2012. but that would only make sense if the ports were external.
