Hi,
I was lucky to get a new IBM DS3524 w/ dual controllers for next to nothing, and now want to fill it up with drives
It seems like in some cases, SAS3 drives can be had for the same cost as generic SAS2 drives, while opening up better future expansion and performance. The main caveat being that these drives are listed as being 528K drives that cannot be re-formatted for 512 due to custom firmware, and I also wonder about SAS3 playing nice in a SAS2 chassis.
Any chance anyone knows if the DS3500 series should work with SAS3 drives? Any ideas about 528K compatibility?
