Holy cow this is ridiculously great--you get a full das with 12TB of storage for around the price of a 12TB easystore. Couple with with the recent LSI hba deal (expired) and you can have an entire das setup for under $200. I've never even wanted das until now.

12tb raw.
good for 10+2 RaidZ2
and you can change HDD.. Can you imagine 12x 10tb.. or 12x 16tb..
and you can put 2 DAS in series.
Or connect one DAS to two server..

Exactly--the expandability at this price is pretty tempting. This would last for years and would probably even support 20TB+ drives as they come out. :)

Don't talk to me about Compellant!! I have two SC200 and a SC220. Adding these, I will have 5 DAS boxes Thes SC200s have 12 x 2TB drives. The SC220 has 24 x 500gb drives (2.5t" drives) These will be 12TB each. So that is 84TB raw storage. Yes, I have a H200e HBA. I have one port handling the compellants. I will have the other port handle these.

Got the last one. Y'all are fast...

I definitely made an impulse purchase without research. Can anyone tell me what I just bought?

(1) Hows the noise? I have a 24 bay supermicro...
(2) Can it operate in dumb JBOD for ZFS?
(3) Does it accept non IBM-drives?
(4) Non 528K drives?
(5) Drives over 2TB?
(6) SATA drives?
(7) What cable should I purchase to connect to an HBA?

1. Not so noise. Like Hp dl160 gen6 2u server.
2. Yes.
3. Yes. I checked 3tb wd green.
4. DAS use regular disk without any problem.
5. see 3.
6. see 3. But for dual port you will need use interposers.. use SAS disks or don't use second DAS controller.
7 sff8088 to sff8088 if your HBA have external SAS connectors.
