I just purchased an IBM Mellanox Connectx-3 Pro (IBM EC38 10GB 00RX859 00RX855 ConnectX-3 Pro CX312B). I am trying to use it in a windows 11 machine with a ryzen 5900x in an MSI MAG B550 motherboard. The card is installed in a slot that is running at x4. The card does not show up in bios or device manager. What might be causing the card to not be detected?

Yes I moved it to the first slot and moved my gpu to the slot it was in. Gpu is working fine just running at x4. The NIC is still not showing up in device manager, HW info, or bios.

If the second M.2 port is used, the PCIe slot 4x is disabled ( only 4 pcie lanes to share between them ).

ASPM is disabled only the first m.2 slot is used and it's still not showing up. I think I might have a bad card.

You could perhaps try Mellanox's recovery tools. Perhaps it just has broken firmware. You'd think it would still show up as a device though, but I have no personal experience with cards in that state. :)

Yeah the seller just offered to return and refund the order.

Does anyone have a 10gb sfp+ nic they recommend? It will be installed in a windows 11 pc gen 3 x4 pcie slot. The slot is full length but limited to x4 so an 8x card should work.

Again ...
Looking the mobo manual https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/MAGB550TOMAHAWK.pdf page 16.
Code:
When installing devices in M.2_2, PCI_E2 & PCI_E3 slots at the same time, PCI_E3
slot will be unavailable, and M2_2 slot only supports PCIe x2
Are any devices in the mentioned slots ?

PS. Mellanox connect-x 3 and connect-x 3 pro works ok with only 4 lanes in pcie.

No, I had an M.2 in M.2_1 and never had pci_e2 populated. I tried the nic in pci_e1 and pci_e3. It was not detected in either. I tried my gpu in both slots and it worked. I assumed it would have worked with 4 lanes, but must have got unlucky with a bad card.

Since you already test all of this the mellanox card must be broken ...
