And that's the M4300 downgraded to a T8100 and 4GB RAM. Sold the X9000 and 8GB RAM to a ThinkPad enthusiast. Now to get rid of the laptop itself... with this ****ed market it will be extremely hard to do so.
Ordered a supposedly NOS M6800 Covet base in China of all things... let's hope it actually is NOS and not some beat to shit heap of trash like that "new" M6600 base was I ordered in the UK a while ago.
God damn K5100M's are not coming down in price for whatever reason. Might as well pick up a M5000M for the same money at this point.
EDIT: then I remembered there's some janky server GPU called the Tesla M6 which is identical but needs Optimus. Tempting, I can get them "locally" for around €120. Think I'll pick up one of those instead.
That would unironically make my M6800 Covet GPU wise faster than my ThinkPad P50 lmao
And that's my parts from the USA shipped. I also ordered a Tesla M6 off Marktplaats which I should be receiving today. Gonna be real interesting if it actually works plug 'n play in the M6800 Covet!
Tesla M6 acquired. After some fiddling with thermal pads, I got it working plug 'n play in my M6800 Covet as I already had the Maxwell compatible heatsink by pure luck
Next step: proper thermal pads for the VRMs and rebuilding it with the parts I bought in the USA.
And that's the M60 gone. Boy what a riot that machine was. Built it from four different M60's and D800s, one of which I found in a e-waste dumpster of all things lol
Taken apart AGAIN and placed a thermal pad on the VRM. Getting some very weird EDP Current throttling at times, but other than that the Precision itself seems to work fine.
