M2300 also gone now, got a nice offer out of nowhere as someone needed a laptop with a serial port.

Now to get rid of the rest.

I kind of screwed myself, I offered a M4400 to someone but I don't really want to sell it, and I can't really say that to him either.

Let's hope he'll go with the M60 or even the M4700 instead.

Ordered a supposedly NOS M6800 Covet base in China of all things... let's hope it actually is NOS and not some beat to shit heap of trash like that "new" M6600 base was I ordered in the UK a while ago.

God damn K5100M's are not coming down in price for whatever reason. Might as well pick up a M5000M for the same money at this point.

EDIT: then I remembered there's some janky server GPU called the Tesla M6 which is identical but needs Optimus. Tempting, I can get them "locally" for around €120. Think I'll pick up one of those instead.

That would unironically make my M6800 Covet GPU wise faster than my ThinkPad P50 lmao

And that's my parts from the USA shipped. I also ordered a Tesla M6 off Marktplaats which I should be receiving today. Gonna be real interesting if it actually works plug 'n play in the M6800 Covet!

Tesla M6 acquired. After some fiddling with thermal pads, I got it working plug 'n play in my M6800 Covet as I already had the Maxwell compatible heatsink by pure luck :D

Next step: proper thermal pads for the VRMs and rebuilding it with the parts I bought in the USA.

And that's the M60 gone. Boy what a riot that machine was. Built it from four different M60's and D800s, one of which I found in a e-waste dumpster of all things lol

THAT ****ING BASE IS NOT NEW

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Haven't checked the rest of the M6800 parts yet, busy installing water cooling in my HAF XB.

M6800 finally back together at last. Of course the goddamn E6540 keyboard I bought doesn't work, thanks Dell /s

The NOS lid, mobo and 4940MX work just fine though. Now to mod the UEFI vars to unlock power limits and shit like that.

And then I forgot to place a thermal pad on the CPU VRM, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

At least the T7600G I bought for the M90 works too!

Taken apart AGAIN and placed a thermal pad on the VRM. Getting some very weird EDP Current throttling at times, but other than that the Precision itself seems to work fine.

Shame about the keyboard though :(

God damn it. I told myself to stop buying Precisions and I ended up with a nearly free M6800. Completely dead, so I swapped the motherboard (and display because the M6800 Covet mobo I had spare is EDP), stayed dead. Pulled the CMOS battery, machine came back to life.

AND SO DID THE ****ING MOTHERBOARD I REPLACED, ALL THAT WORK FOR NOTHING BASICALLY, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

But now you have another motherboard and display, right? You know what that means....time to get the remaining parts to assemble a complete one.

You don't have one of every CPU, graphics, and display combination, do you? Time to add to the collection.

Don't have a palmrest, baseplate, heatsinks or fans unfortunately. Or even a lid for that matter.

Love how Windows Update ****ed over the €1400 Precision of my sister. Not that it wasn't already a piece of shit (people, stay away from the Latitude or XPS based Precisions) but still.

Oh well, pulled the RAM and SSD and i'm selling it as broken to recoup some of the cost. Stupid thing had it's board replaced under warranty once already because it kept shutting down even after repasting. Told her many times "GET A GODDAMN THINKPAD OR 7000 SERIES PRECISION" but no it must be stylish and sleek and shit like that. Play stupid games, win stupid prices.

Good thing I don't have to pay for it and have a rock solid P50 behind me :^)

Oh wow, I found someone capable of board level repairs. Guy even has some M6800 parts i'll get for free when he returns the 5530 since they're too old for him.

Wish me luck, hopefully it's just the BIOS that's bricked and nothing else.

5530 has been resurrected, it was indeed a ****ed BIOS. Thanks Microsoft /s

Also sold the M6800 I 'fixed', and i'm saying goodbye to the M20. That only leaves the M2400 and M4300.

My original M40 will also have a working screen in the future, since I bought two Inspiron 8000 UXGA screens earlier today. Hope they'll arrive in one piece to my USA contact.

In other news, I have taken apart the M6800 and replaced the thermal pad. Still getting EDC Current throttling, guess i'll chalk that up to the VRM being horribly underspecced for a power limit removed 4940MX.
