Hyper v and .vhd backup question

I don't know what happened but my
Vhd got corrupt. I tried doing some research with no luck. It's only my home PC, but lots of important info. My main goal is to get my network backup. I have an old .vhd backup. Can I simply restore that in the current host or should I just create a new host for the backup? My goal is to just get back up, then when I have time try to repair the corrupt vhd or pull data from it if that's even possible?

First , make a backup copy of the current corrupted VHD file.
rename the corrupted vhd file, now you have 2 copies of the corrupted VHD file

copy your old vhd file from backup, fix file permission.
Tried to start the vm or the host.

Take the corrupted VHD file , mount the corrupted VHD file , repair it with chkdisk or other utils.
Copy the files that you want off to another disk.

Windows Server 2016 has built in Backup components.

You can try to mount your backup and get some necessary data from it or you can just create a new VM and try to run this vhd from it
