Well i purchased 13x HUS726060AL4214 ( HGST Ultrastar 7K6000 ) drives for a Dell server w/ H700p controller and missed the 512e/512n/4kn memos. So now i got two options as I see it...
1. Figure it out...
2. Sell them on eBay or trade them? and get 512e drives.

1. Figuring it out...
I upgraded bios, firmware, etc for everything, including the drives which i thought would have fixed it.
HGST KK43 for model number(s) HUS726060AL5214 and HUS726060AL4214. | Driver Details | Dell Canada
Even Dells site list the firmware on the R720 server support pages and got the same results with the H710p controllers too.
I'm thinking it may not be possible, but the below is one link i found related to a possible solution?
https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...-drives-between-512e-4k-and-custom-too.23482/
In my server the controller shows them as status blocked and at just short of 700Gb ea.
HDD Firmware Downloads. PC-3000 Support Downloads. Data recovery and HDD repair tools
The above link contains some software i may try tonight, but think my 2nd problem will be my raid controller will interfere in talking directly to the drives as if it was connected via HBA.

Am i even headed towards light at the end of the tunnel for option #1?

Should i just move to option #2? Anyone want to buy or trade? :) I have 13x Dell 0F22902 / HUS726060AL4214 drives only out of the packages to find out they don't work. :)

Well after talking to the useless HGST support overseas and hanging up with the first two not understanding what i'm trying to do i'm never buying HGST drives again. Maybe the software or things above could do it, but not going to jack with it due to warranty or support down the road.

I've listed these drives on eBay and will buy Seagate or Toshiba instead. If your interested in them, let me know.

Not sure if it's smart to blame HGST for your own mistake of buying the wrong drives?

Also, good luck on the Seagates, the failure rate is MUCH higher on those, HGST has the lowest failure rate of any brand i've seen.
