Hello, I'm looking for a 4U JBOD chassis with SAS3 backplane with almost 36 LFF Bay to connect to my server as DAS (it has installed an 12gb HBA SAS).
I see there are some solution on Supermicro, but it seems quite impossible to get one in Europe and the shipping cost from USA will double the price of the item.

So, I find on Ebay a Huawei 5288 v3 ( Huawei 5288. ) that is not exactly a DAS, but is cheap and I could replace the combo server + das with this unit.

Does anyone know this server?
I searched a lot, but I didn't find any information about backplane (SAS3? SAS2?) and if it supports LSI Databolt (because this server has a LSI3008 controller).

In short: is it a good deal for this price or will I have issues about drivers, firmwares and so on?

Thank you very much

Got one in storage, havent got time to muck around with them yet.
Backplane is Sas3 I think.
From my view, they are actually using same mainboard as RH2288v3, and the 1u version 1288v3, there is 2 big threads on STH about them.
Dont know how much would be a good deal for you, but from where I live, I scored them for a bit less than 200US minus CPU and Ram, and I would say it cheap.

Thank you very much. I'm looking for a 4U with SAS3 backplane. In Italy prices are very very high (about 1000 USD and up for a used Supermicro case). This item is cheaper.
May you test the bandwidth? If you have a SATA SSD and you can reach about 450/500 MB/s on sequential read, it is a SAS3 backplane.

It have Sas3 backplane alright with expander, using 2 set of 8643s connector, could not remember how many but definetely 8643. I got one of 2-rear bay cage for boot disks and remember connecting them to the main backplane.
The chassis is in my storage right now, i have too many thing going on atm, might be able to drop by and take some pics over the week if you need something.
