For those that are looking for a little extra networking juice saw this for $1000, QDR (40gbps) Infiniband. 36 ports. If you were to do a big QDR build out, this might be cost effective. Power consumption would probably be a bit scary though.

I have had this in my ebay watch list for a while. I cant justify it right now though. Sad.

Could be ridiculously fast storage network... but I've never actually played with iscsi over infiniband. I have got iscsi over ipoib working, but that adds quite a bit of latency and really doesn't seem worthwhile.

Does Napp-it (or I suppose omnios/whateverunderlying os) or Nexenta support iscsi over infiniband?

Funnily enough, the budget for our new infrastructure/dev test environment project was just recently approved and these exact switches (from that seller) were in my proposal. I just pulled the trigger on 3 of them (1 for spare). They also had some Mellanox branded ones but they only had 2 in inventory.

I also got 12x HP 592520-B21 refurbs (which are Mellanox MHQH29C-XTR equivalents, ConnectX-2 4X QDR dual ports) for $100 each. I'm getting antsy waiting for all the pieces to arrive.

Will most likely have some blog posts on the entire project but I'll update this post when I receive them! I'll need cables before I can do any real testing tho. :)
