...that's cheaper than my entire X3440 server I just bought 4 months ago. Yes please.

Please don't send me angry hate mail for snatching this up. Can't pass up a server being sold for 10% of its actual value.

**** me, now I have to buy the Gen8 trays. And a second CPU is going to cost more than the entire server. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS :(

Eh, I'll probably keep it single chip for now. After all, I'm going from an ancient Lynnfield to Sandy Bridge-EP. If I end up holding onto this system for an extended period of time, the processors will probably come down as all the Sandy Bridge-EP stuff comes off lease.

Seller apparently had two identical ML350e Gen8s. He offered to sell me the other one at the same price using a paypal invoice, which I happily took him up on the offer. :p Now, there's still that task of getting some hard drive trays...

That is wild. You can part out for more.

Under overview it states "Tower only", are you sure the price includes mobo, ram and cpu?

I think he means that he's not including literature, media, or power cords with it. I don't think he'd list specs otherwise if he was listing an empty tower.

Got the servers. Shockingly not a scam. Feel like I've robbed someone... They even smell new. No scratches anywhere.

@Patrick Is there an info page for linux bench stuff? I want to get this done tonight so I can move vmware over to this new server.

I felt the same when I was offered a 24U dell rack, R710 with 144GB of ram, 2x R410's with 1 quad, 16GB of ram, 4x1TB drives and 2x Dell 2U 1kW upses for 250€.
Now I got nice rack and some dell servers :p

Running the benchmarks on the ml350e gen8.

It's amazing what they've done with computers these days:

That's with the server actually running and doing the benchmark! Had to double check what was plugged in to the KAW.

The E5 series was a big power consumption drop. Cannot be stated more simply. There was a large delta from the 5600's.
