Hello,
I've acquired an ML350 G9 server and now I am looking to buy more memory - ~256gb. I was wondering whether non-HP memory sticks from other manufacturers will be ok (the installed set is intended to be from a single manufacturer.) A google search yielded one discussion with a 'no'/'yes but'/'may be' set of replies. Does anyone have an idea what may be the best approach in such case?

Pretty easy to HP memory though.
16x16gb or 8x32gb ? Depending on cpu can only use 2133 or at best 2400 anyway.

Rather new to hp myself (and to servers for that matter.) u seem to be saying that it is easy to find used hp server dimms. with 24 dimm slots, 2 dimms per channel appears decent, so 16x16gb would be about right. the 32gb dimms are bound to be pricey. @ the moment i have a lowly v3 but the intention is for 14 cores per cpu min v3 or v4. i assume that the 2400 will downclock in a v3 installation.

Yep, 2400 downclocks no issues.
and yes the HPE ram is usually not hard to find eBay etc.
