I have no experience with the HP Smart Array Controllers, so I was wondering if someone could quantify the likely performance increases I would see on a pair of mirrored SAS SSD drives in an HP DL380 G9 on an H240ar controller vs on a P840 controller with 4gb of cache? The server is running ESXI7 and serving up Windows 10 and Linux virtual machines over a 10g network.

Thank you!

You using mirroring on the H240 ? A proper cached smart array controller the performance improvement should be significant.
H240 is very good performing for direct connect (eg vSAN, Ceph usage etc) but bad at mirroring as far as I remember , only ever use H240 for direct access to disks.
