Maybe "Processors and Motherboards" should include Memory as well?
This might be a long shot but is anyone familiar with the memory on HP servers?
I'm trying to figure out the most optimal design, my requirements are 36GB RAM for now but I want to buy RDIMMS that I can use in the future when I need more.
The HP tool gave me a setup with the following layout:
Channel 0; 0, 4GB SR, 8GB DR
Channel 1; 0, 4GB SR, 8GB DR
Channel 2; 0, 4GB SR, 8GB DR
The strange thing is that it recommends LV for the 8GB sticks. I really cant say if it's a problem with their tool or if I actually need LV to run that setup? If I pick 3x(2GB, 2GB, 8GB) it gives me STD RDIMMS so I'm thinking it might be something wrong with the tool?
Why I want this instead of the more standard 3x(4GB, 4GB, 4GB) is obviously the expansion to 3x(4GB, 4GB, 8GB) or even 3x(4GB, 8GB, 8GB) in the future.
Any input would be appreciated!
