Hey,
I don't own this switch but I did some research.
1.) the fans are noisy. HP is stating 45 dB at low speed and 56 dB at high speed.
2.) Expect a power draw of 100 Watt and more (557 BTU thermal rating).
Considering that comparable current gen. switches suck something like 30-40 Watt, I will let this one pass by. If you need L3 features, though, this is the cheapest way to get them, I guess.
(I'm in Europe, where energy is expensive and 4x 10GbE L2+ switches cost around 350€)

Edit: Seems like current gen. L3 switches still suck 100 Watt...

Seems like a pretty darn good deal to me. I know I got a steal of a deal @ $300 for my Juniper EX3300 PoE+ 24 port switch w/ 4x 10GbE on it, this would have been tempting since I love HP switches cli config...none of this Tom-foolery that you get with other switches where it takes 2-3 command sequences to implement something, in procurve cli world it is ridiculously simple.

Are these the ones posted on reddit a few months ago? I almost bought a few in January, but then one of my company's network vendors gave us a bunch of crazy high end 48 port switches for testing, so i never got these. From all of the research I did in preparation though, these really seem like winners, especially for the price.
