Hello!

I've available aprox. 1TB RAM of these babies but I don't know what to do with them.

HP 8GB (1x8GB) Single Rank x4 PC3-12800R (DDR3-1600) Registered CAS-11 Memory Kit
P/N 647899-B21

What are the CPUs/Workstations/Servers that actually supports these modules? I've been thinking about dismissing my old G6 servers and build a new workstation but can't find any information about compatibility with these modules.

Thank you all

From my understanding only E3/E5 v2 chips are compatible with DDR3 so newer models than G8 v2 aren't compatible with these memories, am I right?

Correct
E5 v1/v2 - gen8 is ok
E5 v3/v4 - gen9 is not ok, they use ddr4
E3 don't use rdimm at all they use udimm so not ok at all in any version.

That HP memory will work in pretty much any system form dell or Supermicro etc, and check the actual memory part number may be on the tested list as well.

In my HP Z420 workstation with E5-2660 v1 CPU, I currently have 2 pieces of 16GB 2Rx4 PC3-12800R memory, and it works well. Therefore I would suppose (but can not confirm) that the Z420/Z620/Z820 workstations could be good candidates for your modules...

Edit: my modules are from Micron.

As it is registered RAM, it will work with LGA1366 Xeons (like L5640, X5670 etc.), and Socket 2011 Xeon E5's (v1 and v2).
E3 Xeons only use unbuffered RAM and the newer E5's on socket 2011-3 use DDR4 RAM, so you can not use either of those.
