Does anybody know where the System Temp sensor on a SuperMicro X9DRH-7TF motherboard is located? I have good temperatures for both CPUs but System Temp goes always up to 80 degrees Celsius and higher. Already tried different case fan placements but nothing seems to work.

Whatever system this is in, is running seriously hot. Your 10g temp is 60, your CPUs are running in the mid 50s.

Is this in a rackmount case? pc case? What type of fans are you using?

You were putting a bigger heatsink/fan on the chipset, which is the PCH temp, which seems ok. The system temp sensor is usually labeled RT1 on Supermicro motherboards. A magnifying glass and a light... :)

I think CPU temperatures are ok, I was running some miner at all cores to test temperatures. if I put these Xeon E5-2696 v2 processors in my SuperMicro 6027TR-HTRF server, temperatures rise to 70 degrees and more.

At the moment the board is not in a case, some day it has to be put into a Zalman R2 but first I want to understand where and how it needs to be cooled. For the CPUs I have two Noctua NH-U9DX i4 coolers which I think do a pretty good job.

I have another (empty) X9DRH-7TF motherboard, a magnifying glass and a light so I actually will go searching for the RT1 sensor :)

Found it.

I expected it to be at the front but it is at the back of the motherboard.

Anyway, with a 120mm Noctua fan blowing at it (FAN4), System Temp looks much better.

Thanks all, next step is to put the board into his/her case:)
