How to get Supermicro X9DR7-LN4F working with Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012

Trying to install Windows Server 2012 on a Supermicro X9DR7-LN4F. Let's just say that Windows is not so happy. I just checked the X9DR7-LN4F BIOS and they are sitting at 515 which means May this year.

What I did: I tried the new A17 BIOS from the X9DA7 workstation motherboard. That did not flash.

How I got Windows Server 2012 working on the Supermicro X9DR7-LN4F - I cheated. Simply I installed Windows Server 2012 on a Supermicro X9SCM-F and it's SSD. I then took the SSD and added it to the Intel controller of the Supermicro X9DR7-LN4F. It booted up although taking an extra 30 seconds for new devices.

Overall... I couldn't get any help by searching for this. Hopefully this helps others until there is a BIOS update. I did send a request in for beta BIOS.

You're saying you can't get the on-board SAS to work with 2012?

I think it was a BIOS compatibility issue.

Got a beta BIOS today that should fix this "feature."

I've been having this exact same issue with my X9DR7-LN4F motherboard as well. Did the beta BIOS work? If so, can I get a copy of it? Thanks.

The first one was not so good. Awaiting another. They know about this and if you create a ticket they send the latest to you. Quickly. Might be worth seeing if you get a newer version.
