How the heck do you flash a Dell LSI SAS 9217-8i (Dell GTP9G)

I have been scouring the internet to find a guide on how to flash the GTP9G to IT mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Flashing process and tools for both the 2008 and 2308 based cards is more or less the same. -- megarec, sas2flash etc.

9205 / 9207 / 9217 are essentially the same HW. 9207 is IT and 9217 comes with IR.
