Now that the Intel Core i7-3770 is out, how long until there is a 22nm Xeon? Will there be a Xeon E3 variant? Are we expecting much lower power consumption?

Here is a list of the E3 Ivy Bridge. Look for the V2 in the specs. They should be released in June. The TDP should be lower by about 10W-15W across the board.

Look at Sandy Bridge v. Ivy Bridge comparisons. That should give you a really good idea. Remember, a lot of Ivy Bridge die space went to a bigger GPU. In server chips, you tend not to use GPUs, and the TDP went down even with the bigger GPU.
