Im unsure why you think its a strange reason the firmware is far newer on V100

And I'm unsure why you think a newer firmware is better. Does it include a single new feature or bugfix? Or is it simply newer because of the fact that it has been adapted to be compatible to newer hardware?

I do have an info to provide: As long as your beloved 100.x firmware doesn't fix a bug or adds a new feature, there's not a single reason to update.


BTW: My 1.9.1 based switch is running on RTLPlayground. Just compiled a new build, so firmware can't be any fresher than that.

the reason it doesnt work on the earlier ones is because of the OTP area being different from what i can understand
that has to be modified

hence why i asked for a dummies guide how to do it
so i dont have to stumble through it but im sure i could if i really had to

Yes, the OTP content is probably the reason, why new firmware V100/V200 bricks the switch (an infinite bootloop).

In any case, I recommend to use IMSProg v1.5.1+ for OTP content modification.

I flashed your dump and the switch booted successfully. I tried many different ways to access it via IP but I couldn’t connect. Then I connected through the serial console and saw that the system boots correctly and restores the IP address 192.168.10.12. However, I was still not able to access the switch using that IP.

Since the physical reset button didn’t work, I performed a flash erase at address 0x1fe000 (factory reset of the configuration area). After erasing that address, the switch returned to default settings and I was finally able to access it at 192.168.10.12.

I will also upload my modified dump file here so others can use it as well. This version already has the default settings.

in case you have problems to login , just write keeplink 2MB dump. try login maybe ip 192.168.1.168 or 192.168.1.6 reset over webif if possible, and then rewrite xikestore dump and then login over 192.168.10.12
works fine on Keeplink-KP-9000-9XHML-X . need check sfp+ situation because on latest keeplink fw it looses connection on last published fw 21 25)

Have you made sure you actually save your changes to flash, not just the running config in RAM? Many of these switches require an extra step to do that.

I have no experience with your particular switch so I can't for sure if that applies to your switch model or not, but it's worth double checking.

Both of my RTL930x based switches support doing that. One is running the L2 managed software and one is running the L3 managed software. They are usually more expensive though.
