I see. Do You have an option to solder out the firmware chip, to program it and to solder it back?

Then we just need to find some compatible "*.bin" file in order to make it possible to upload needed firmware via web interface.

What about idea:

1) to take a backup of the current running firmware and to have it just in case
2) To try uploading this one in order to try getting the web upload interface in order to gain the possibility of uploading the newest firmware.

The latest (V200) firmwares are available here:
I've just updated my HORACO HC-SWTG124AS (V200.1.11) with the SODOLA SL902-SWTGW124AS (V200.1.20) firmware. It seems to work without any issue.

BTW. The binary for SODOLA SL902-SWTGW218AS is exactly the same as the firmware for HORACO mentioned here:
https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...witch-8-x-2-5gbe-1-10gb-sfp.41571/post-473864

Earlier I tried using firmware V200.1.16 for Lianguo LG-SG5T1 but port 5 doesn't work properly.
I tried using SL902-SWTGW215AS:HRRF_V200.1.20_SL902-SWTGW215AS_1017.bin and it worked.

Yes but I use ch341a and clip.
Just a suggestion, if you're comfortable with little bit of soldering. If surrounding space allows I find these kind of sockets incredibly useful. Having the same footprint as the SOIC-8 flash chips they can be soldered in place, making the flash easy to swap out.

I checked the managed version first, but the switch didn't start. I plan to buy another model like this and try to copy it, but in my country Keeplink on Aliexpress stopped selling them and they are under a different brand but with the same case and motherboard.

noob here when it comes to enterprise (those not using RJ45) networking equipment...

I have an HP 560SFP+ with an optical transceiver (455885-001). I bought it a long time ago but I have not used it.

Can someone please recommended a 10Gbps transceiver I can use on the Horaco end? Thank you.

EDIT: Can I use another 455885-001 on the Horaco end?

Realtek based switches like these don't have any vendor locking so any cheap 10GBASE-SR transceiver should work. :)

Would another HP 455885-001 work? Yes. Is it far too expensive for what it is? Yes. If you already have one though, feel free to use it.

You can find compatible transceivers for as little as a few USD if you're in the US:

You can also find them on Amazon or AliExpress for roughly $10-15.

Question please, would generic Intel transceivers work on the HP?

If you get another one and copy the firmware, you will need to figure out where the mac address is located and edit it. At least if you want both to work on the same network.

In the HP NIC? An old thread on here from 2020 suggests that it's an OEM version of the Intel X520 NIC. Retail Intel NICs often have vendor locking, but I don't know if HP enabled it or not. If so, you can patch bit in the card's EEPROM to disable the vendor lock.

However, didn't you say you had a HP transceiver already? If so, try that one and buy a cheap generic transceiver for the Horaco switch.

in case I need more but it seems the vendor unlocking is the way to go.

Somehow I was not successful when I had originally tried to find the mac address in a firmware dump, but it turns out it is actually pretty easy. You just need a hex editor that lets you search the hex values and then use that to look for the mac address. I did it using beyond compare to also compare across the firmware dumps from two different switches.

This leads me to conclusion that flash chip is probably corrupted in some region - maybe user space?
I have found W25Q16JVSIQ, GD25Q16CSIG easily available. Unfortunately, they don't mention size, only SOP-8. Hope I'll get right one as we need 208 mil. I'll order them and see.
The problem of the SPI flash chip replacement with the Winbond W25Q16JV is the OTP area used for encrypted data (in this case it's not Security Register, but SFDP register).

Edit: My previous statement is not completely true. There are actually 4 security registers in Winbond W25Q16JV (Security Register #1, #2, #3 and undocumented Security Register #0 used for SFDP info).

Check the excellent explanation of the flash chip replacements here:

Regarding the SOIC-8 sizes: 208 mil is currently used for managed switches, while 150 mil for unmanaged (there are two footprints on the V2.0.1 PCBs assembled accordingly with associated resistors).
