I''ve maxed out my Beelink N100 which has been solid for over 2 years. Looking for advice for my next upgrade. I've been eyeing the MS-01 12900 primarily, but open to suggestions given my use case below. The MS-01 is currently on sale for Prime days. I'd be looking to add 96GB RAM (CT2K48G56C46S5) and 2x2TB nvme (CT2000P310SSD801). My main concern with the MS-01 is stability given some posts I've read on units failing.

Edit: I'm also open to the MS-A2. Given my use of Plex (although minimal transcoding) and Immich, I'm leaning towards Intel. Perhaps I'm over indexing on that front as the A2 seams to be a beast.

I'm looking for low maintenance and don't want to tinker too much.

My current hardware:
  • Beelink N100 — 32GB RAM, 2x 2.5G NICs
  • Raspberry Pi 2B+ (not currently using)
  • Synology NAS DS220+ (media storage, PBS)
  • Networking Equipment
    • USW-Flex-2.5G
    • US-8-60W
    • USG3 (current router)
What I currently/plan to use:
  • Proxmox OS
  • VMs
    • Home Assisstant OS VM
  • LXCx
    • Plex
    • Arr suite
    • Scrypted
    • Pocket ID
    • Vaultwarden
    • Traccar
    • Docker containers
      • Frigate (i have a Coral TPU USB)
      • Immich
      • Technitium
      • Komodo
      • Traefik
      • Dispatcharr
      • Mealie
      • Tinyauth
  • Future considerations:
    • OPNsense (either as VM, or re-purpose beelink bare metal)

Yes, but I think most affected units was in first batch. I knew because I bought 2 units , 1 for my friend and 1 for me.
My friend's unit: ( bought in April 2024) cmos battery went flat every few months lolz
Mine dun have such issue ( bought in June/24 iirc)

I ran alot of services on ms01, include routerOS CHR VM as maini router ( switched from Opnsense ).
I can easily maxed out my 10G link both wan and lan

As per screenshot , pve11 is ms-01

Here is its temp for 30 days ( sry old photo , I just bring down beszel recently so no record for this month ). MS01 been running 24/7 for 1 year obviously since the main router vm is on it lolz.

Here is the list of things i running on 3 nodes , pretty standard i guess

So you can see im a happy user of ms01.

For the price, I think ms01 worth it, simply because of x710-DA2, I actually added 2nd x710-BM2 to it , and the card cost me 250 usd.

I cant say the same for ms-A2 lolz, its like x4 price of ms-01, for the price , i could get 2 of these
and Yes, i know power consumption is big difference , but still , for that price , I will consider getting owned server instead.

And one more thing:

I'm looking for low maintenance and don't want to tinker too much.
You will need to tinker, especially the temperature, ms01 will run hot by default.

And if you plan to run Opnsense vm, you need to tinker , tweak here and there to maximize performance, especially if your network and internet are 10G.
