Hello everyone, I own a hitachi JBOD and I've been trying to connect it to my win 10 pc with no luck, first tried a LSI 9200 quad with a 8088 connector to the hitachi QSFP+, card would not read the box, then tried a Mellanox Connectx VPI (MT26428) but this one shows as a removable hardware, anyone has guide or how to for the pc to see this box? the Mellanox card has a QSFP connector so cables are compatible. Wondering if it would make a difference if fiber was used. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I think you need to initialize the storage first as i think by default its running in iscsi configuration not as jbod.
You should connect it first on your rj-45 maintenance ports in the back, they (hitachi) either have a software suite for it or there's a webpage on its default ip 192.168.0.15. Where you should see everything - problems with connections, modes, and so on etc.

(I think it may be expecting specific hba controller card)

if you could provide pictures of the back - that would be great.

In the user manual page 86-87 does outline cables it expects.

Great I hope I can test out tomorrow, I'm sending pic of the back, I was thinkering with the console port but was unable to remove the cap in it :p. I tried 2 cards so far, LSI 9200 16e and a Mellanox ConnectX and no luck.

yeah get to console - note that i have no idea how to configure it as jbod at this moment is likely running default in iscsi mode. This isn't plug&play on hba controller.

I just purchased 2 of these from eBay as well and am having the exact same issue. Were you ever able to find a solution?

I have not the faintest idea what made them think the "console" port on the back was Ethernet. It is not. It is a standard RS232 serial console port with a standard Cisco pin out running at 115200 baud. You can see a list of commands by typing help, a lot of them don't work anyway and I have not been able to find anything that would make it spin up the drives when powered on.
You can fudge it by plugging it into the server AFTER it has booted up, but this is not very practical.
