Hi all,

I would like to ask for a firmware as well. Mine is the 2TB 5K3000 PartNumber: hua5c3020ala640 . P/N is oF15134

I have gone through all pages of this thread, but it looks like I am the only one with such a drive.

Is there a firmware compatibility between some models, so that I may be able to switch to a compatible firmware?

Thanks in advance,

Dear kryptex,

I have 6 Hitachi Ultrastar 7K300 drives. I'm in the process of upgradeing our equipments, and wondering, if these HDDs useing the available latest FW.

Hard disk model: Hitachi HUA723030ALA640 MKAO
Model number: Hitachi HUA723030ALA640
Firmware version: MKAOA5C0

If there is any newer FW, where can I download it?

Thanks

Hello,
I think there is no firmware available for these newer (1TB/platter) models from Toshiba/Hitachi.
A bit of history, in order to have a clearer picture:
Before Toshiba took over the 3.5" production line from Hitachi, the Hitachi drives had a density lower than 1TB/platter and old 512-byte sectors (the 7K3000/7K4000 and 5K3000/5K4000 models). These models had a denomination HDSxxxxxxALxxxx and had firmwares usually ending in 580, 5C0, 800 or A10. We had access to these firmwares and could easily upgrade/downgrade.

Around the time Toshiba took over, the drives switched to 4K sectors and 1TB/platter density, with model names Hitachi HDSxxxxxxBLxxxx and firmware ending in AB0 ("Hitachi" is still shown in the OS, but we can see Toshiba branding on the physical drives). Since then, no more firmwares available for these drives. Later on Toshiba updated the model names reported to the OS to Toshiba DT01ACAxxx (7200 rpm) and DT01ABAxxx (5700 rpm) and newer firmware BB0.

So yeah, since Toshiba makes these drives, no more luck with firmware updates it seems...

Hey guys! I have a HGST Travelstar 7k1000, it's a 2.5'' laptop drive. I need to change the sata speed from sata 3 to sata 2 in order for me to be able to use it in a 2011 Macbook Pro Optibay caddy. That Macbook model has major issues dealing with sata 3 drives in the optibay. I tried Hgst Feature tool 2.15, 2.16M2 and 2.17: when I click on ''change sata speed settings'' a get a dialog telling me that the drive is not supported. Do you know if there's a version of Feature tool that will allow me to get that done? I am confused because apparently other users were able to get that done (reading amazon reviews of the drive), but they don't specify which FT version they used. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone have the firmware for the following drive:

HUA723020ALA640

P/N 0F15107

Crystaldiskmark is showing the drive with the Firmware MK70C790. The drives are not showing up when connected to a LSI 9211-8i card but do work when connected directly to the motherboard. I don't believe the card to be faulty as other drives work on it.

Solved my problem using Feature Tools 2.16 to change the drive speed from 1.5 Gb/s to 6 GB/s. May or may not help anyone.

I took a chance and picked up some refurb 3TB 7K4000 drives from Newegg since they do not wipe the SMART data like gohdd does even though they only carry a 90 day warranty. For under $60ea I figured I would give it a try. Here is the SMART data from one of the drives. I am running them through Stablebit also. They are for media storage only. Keep or suck it up and buy new? Thanks

These are the Hitachi HDD firmware I have available. I am also looking for an updated firmware for the Hitachi 2TB HUA7523020ALA641 (P/N: 0F12470) if there is any available.

A10 is the latest firmware for all the below hard drives:

--Hitachi 5K3000 3TB (0F12460) A10 Windows Firmware:

MEGA

This one has to be flashed using the include HiTest software in Windows. I unfortunately have not had any luck in Windows 7 x64, but people have had luck with Windows XP 32bit. I haven't been able to install Windows XP on my machines, however.

--Hitachi 7K3000 2TB (0F12115) A10 DOS Firmware:

MEGA

--Hitachi 5K3000 2TB HDS5C3020ALA632 (0F12117) A10 Windows and DOS Firmware:

MEGA

Hopefully this will help anyone looking for these :) PM me to let me know if these links go do and I'll see if I can re-upload them :)
