Hello there,

I would like to use the following setup: Hitachi DF-F800-RKAKS with Enclosure Control Unit model: Y1KAS (p/n 3282443-A) connected to a Windows 2012 server (HP DL360e Gen 8) with SAS9207-8e (IT mode) using a K1BS cable (p/n 3276137-A) and I don’t get any progress. During the post process I’m stuck at “Devices are spinning up” and that’s as far as the lab goes.

I need to use the enclosure as JBOD, what am I doing wrong? I have tried using a different HBA SAS9205-4i4e, I have tried using different brand SAS cables, I have tried both ports in the enclosure - IN and OUT and no progress.

Someone else had same issue, never got answered, https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/hitachi-df-f800-rkak-ams-2000-enclosures.6501/
What happens if you start with the unit empty? Add drives one at a time?
What happens if you boot and then hot plug the unit in? Does it spin up and get seen or not?
Pretty much nothing changes, if i plugin one disk only, it still stays on "Devices are in process of spinning up" and i have tried waiting a couple of days without result. If i hot plug the unit in, the OS doesn't see any drives. Even HDD Sentinel doesn't recognizes any drives attached, but the OS starts to behave funny, for example Windows can't shut down. It will stay on "Shutting down" forever with the enclosure plugged in.

I have more than 10 DF-F800 units with 15 3.5 inch 2TB disks from a AMS Storage (decomissioned)
when they arrived I made a simple test with a SAS controller (from a Netapp FAS8020), single 1068 and can SEE the disks, even creating partions on the SO
6 months past, trying to retest again but cannot see the disks anymore.
Tryed 3 diferent servers brand, SAS H200, H200E, P420i and others, 3 diferente SAS Cable SFF8088 with generic conector or even with the Hitach original ones. Still not OK
I guess the controller is the problem, still trying to find my old Netapp SAS controller.

In fact I noted that a SAS 3445E WORKS, but only with SAS disks with interposer (Hitachi Originals). BUT SATA disks 600GB Originals ones too don´t work because the interposer cannot fit (only designed to SAS).
SATA disks cause a int 13h error on adapter
