Retail package of the 5K3000 are at Fry's stores now for $69.99. I highly recommend retail packaging over OEM as its superior in terms of drive being protected from shocks/drops - they use plastic brackets which suspend the drive and work quite well. Most of the people you hear complain on forums about receiving a bad drive are really just victims of the reseller's (mis)packing and/or the shipping company's abuse of the package, so the way its packaged is critical. Nearly all of my 70+ previous generation Hitachi 2TB 7K2000 drives were sourced from Fry's in retail packages, and FWIW I still haven't had to RMA one despite 24x7 use.
As a reminder, the 2TB 5K3000 is *thee* drive to get right now for data archiving, I'm even considering selling most of my 7K2000 drives and replacing with 5K3000. Both 7K2000 and 5K3000 will outlive their warranties, but I think the 5K3000 will live a bit longer since it runs 10C cooler than 7K2000. Less heat = less expansion/contraction of the mechanical elements, less stress on the controller board's components = measurably longer life.
